In today's world of cost and inflation, I highly recommend keeping lawn tractors properly maintained, serviced properly and thoroughly following manufacturer recommendations using quality products. Mainly due to the cost and availability of major repair parts. I am not affiliated with any specific manufacturer nor do I sell brand-new machines and say this based on 25+ years in and around the repair business of outdoor power equipment, heavy equipment, and vehicles as well as being in charge of maintenance for various landscape and construction companies over the years. A lawn tractor service will look something like this, varies slightly depending on the machine and options, and certainly not limited to this list. Lawn tractor services start at $230.00 plus parts and products. -Oil change using small engine-specific oil containing ZDDP anti-wear additives meeting the high heat demands of air-cooled engines usually a CH-4 or CJ-4 API-rated oil -Spark plug replacement using quality NGK spark plugs -Carburetor cleaning, we have the tools for your newer computer-controlled EFI systems too -Valve adjustment (a very common, overlooked, and necessary adjustment in all 4 cycle engines ) -Check and tighten loose bolts and hardware -Engine shrouds and guards are removed, and engine cooling fins are thoroughly cleaned -Remove, sharpen, balance, and reinstall blades torqued to manufacture recommended specs. -Clean the mower deck and coat it with Fluid Film a non-toxic lanolin-based rust inhibitor that will slow the rusting process and aid in keeping grass from sticking to the mower deck. It will not harm your grass. -Mower deck leveling and tire pressure -Any adjustments will be checked and made as necessary. -Check the charging system and load test of your battery -Check and inspect all belts, bearings, tires, -Machine is thoroughly washed -Lubricate ALL lubrication points including and not limited to, grease fittings, spindles, steering parts, wheels, idler arms, -Machines are given a 10-15 minute test run where Idle speed, Governed Idle speed, and top no-load speed are adjusted to manufacture specs using a tachometer ( Many times machines are running slow which affects efficiency or too fast causing engine and hydrostatic transmission damage. -we will fix any minor repairs within the service. Anything outside the service is parts and labor based on manufacturer warranty labor times which I tend to trim as we are part way there with the service
